Description
INTRODUCTION This dialogue follows a conversation among Dr. Bob Blake, assistant professor of chemical education, Dr. Jon Preston, associate professor of computing education, Dr. Carla Shaw, associate professor of curriculum and instruction, and Dr. Andrew Kemp, assistant professor of curriculum leadership. The dialogue began as a conversation between Drs. Shaw and Kemp, later adding content specialists Drs. Blake and Preston. The dialogue took place over e-mail over the course of 2 weeks. Editing was made for errors in grammar, usage and mechanics, as well as for APA style. However, the bulk of the content was left to reflect the actual flow of the conversation with only slight modifications made for clarity, appropriateness of language, and length. At the end of the process, a conclusion was written to summarize the discussion and to identify common themes and substantial differences that emerged. Therefore, this article is the outcome of a continuous dialogue among various educators on the relationship between content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge. Each section is introduced with the name of the speaker.
